"Anesti Danelis delivers the funny with a hefty side of heart. Not only were his songs expertly composed, his lyrics were freaking hilarious." (MooneyOnTheatre.com)

Songs for a New World Order is an acoustic romp of witty and ridiculous, genre-hopping songs that skewer both the state of the world, and those freaking out about it. From the deep dark secrets we suppress (shhhhh) to the slow walekrs we can't pass (why can’t they just f*@#-ing move?) this musical comedy searches for the love in a loveless world, while offering a surreal take on the mundane struggles threatening our humanity.

This delightfully dark show makes it's Edinburgh debut after a successful premier at the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival, 2018 Montreal Fringe Festival, and officially selected extended run at the acclaimed Second City Toronto's John Candy Box Series. *Official selections: Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival (2017, 2018), Montreal Sketch Comedy Festival (2017), Fresh Notes Fest (2018), Semi-Finalist Z103.5FM Fund Me Fest (2017).

"Danelis is goofily charming, and self-deprecatingly hilarious...If musical comedies are your thing Songs for a New World Order will surely delight you as it did me." (A-) MyEntertainmentWorld.com)

Songs for a New World Order Review
Most of his audience all sit far back and ready for an easy escape, but despite his tentative audience and late night slot, Danelis takes to the stage to confidently introduce himself and help put his audience at ease. Once he starts, it becomes instantly clear that there is no need to fret: this is going to be a great hour.

Danelis is a Toronto-based musical comedian who manages to charm his crowd with a brilliant blend of sharp wit, optimism and perfectly dark humour. Songs for a New World Order brilliantly showcases Danelis’s unique ability to twist his words and thread them seamlessly through his songs in a way that will always have you wondering what’s coming next. Alone on the stage with just his guitar, Danelis’s tunes are absurd yet completely relatable – I’m sure everyone in Edinburgh this August will particularly engage with his ode to the slow walkers.

Anesti Danelis was a hidden gem of this year’s Festival Fringe. Keep an eye out for this rising star and let’s hope he returns to the capital next year. Click Here

August 17, 2018 Beyond The Joke
Amused Moose Comedy Award Finalist 2018
The nominees have been announced for the Amused Moose Comedy Award 2018. The eight shows will compete in the Amused Moose Comedy Award Grand Final this weekend (Sunday 19 August) at The Space @ Symposium Hall from 9:30pm.

The Amused Moose Comedy Award searches for the best comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from talent on the cusp of fame. Entry is open to all shows listed in the comedy section of the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe website (www.edfringe.com) for at least 18 dates, which have not previously won or been nominated for any other major comedy award. The eight finalists have been selected by an industry panel, including critics, promoters and producers, who have watched and scored all entries online, before viewing the long-list live in Edinburgh.

The finalists will perform 8 to 10 minute segments from their shows in the Amused Moose Comedy Award Grand Final, battling it out for a Moose trophy and their next step on the road to stardom, emulating previous winners Tony Law, Marcel Lucont, Celia Pacquola and Richard Gadd. The audience and industry panel will decide on the winner. The event will be hosted by comedian, Chaser and quizzer Paul Sinha, and the award will be presented by Shona McCarthy (Chief Executive at Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society).

The Amused Moose Comedy Award 'Awesome Eight' 2018 are:

Anesti Danelis: Songs For A New World Order
Damian Clark - ExtraPlace!
Ken Cheng: Best Ever Dad
Look, It's Tom Little, Alright?

Songs For a New World Order - Show Review
I loved Anesti Danelis’ solo show. Alone on stage with just his natural presence, a handful of funny stories, a guitar and a great voice, Danelis is goofily charming and self-deprecatingly hilarious as he works his way through a series of comedic songs that skewer both the state of the world and those who are freaking out about it (“Where Did the Love Go?” he asks in both the opener and closer, listing ways in which people acted totally normally towards their fellow man). If musical comedies are your thing, Songs for a New World Order will surely delight you as it did me. Click Here

Songs For a New World Order - Show Review
Anesti Danelis is just a boy with a guitar who wants to find the love that’s gone missing in this topsy-turvy world. In his show, “Songs For A New World Order” produced by his own company, Third Wheel; the audience is taken through a series of clever songs about everything from slow walkers on the TTC to accidentally kidnapping babies all tied up in an optimistic bow.

Much like the musician/comedian hybrids who have come before him (like Bo Burnham and Tim Minchin), Anesti Daniels delivers the funny with a hefty side of heart. Not only were his songs expertly composed, the lyrics we’re freaking hilarious. Let’s just say, if there were albums available, I would have definitely bought one.

Although the show had very minimal lighting and little to no props, we didn’t need anything more than Anesti and his guitar. His songs had that quality where you swear you’ve heard it before, yet it’s totally original. That’s how good he is…

As for content, he covered everything from wearing pyjamas at a funeral to role-playing in the bedroom using the Meisner Technique. My favorite song out of the bunch was the final song “We’re All Human”. It made me go “d’awww” inside while still being as clever and witty as the songs that preceded it.

This boy had enough light in his heart to fill the whole stage. If that sounded cheesy, it’s because I’m still running on the love fumes I picked up from his final song.

Songs For A New World Order isn’t trying to be some flashy show and that’s why it’s so great. It’s built on a solid foundation of great jokes and awesome writing so it’s really a no-fail. If you know a friend that loves Flight of the Concords and maybe has a smart sense of humour, tell them to check out “Songs For A New World Order” at the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival. They will LOVE you for it. Click Here
